Keeping Your Child Safe Online

Dear Parents,

I would like to introduce a free program to keep your child safe online.

Windows Live Family Safety helps make it easy for you!

You can install on the computer your child use, so you can give them some independence but still keep tabs on their computer activities. It can help keep your child off websites you don't want them looking at, and only let them talk to the people you're fine with them talking to.

To find out more or to install the program, go to
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Protecting-your-kids-with-Family-Safety

Add to Your Chat List

Dear Boys and Girls,

1) To access LMS
Read post titled "E-Learning Portal" dated Wednesday, January 25, 2012

2) To access GMail in LMS

3) To add a person to your Chat List

  • Type the person's email address in the "Search people" box on the left column of the page.
  • Select "Invite to chat"
  • It's done. You'll see that person's name on the left column of the page.
Look for an email from Chun Min Jonathan Chua. You will find a list of Mother Tongue teachers's email address. Please add your MT teacher's email address so that you can chat with him/her on E-Learning day.

E-Learning - Monday 5 March 2012

Dear Parents,

E-learning is from 8am - 12.30pm
I will be taking attendance at 8 am. Please ensure your child go to chat.

8.30 am English
9.30 am Mother Tongue
10.30 am Math

Do take care of your child's eyes.
Some tips:
1) look away from your computer at least every 20 minutes and gaze at a distant object (at least 20 feet away) for at least 20 seconds. Some eye doctors call this the "20-20-20 rule." Looking far away relaxes the focusing muscle inside the eye to reduce fatigue.

2) Adjust your computer display settings
Brightness. Adjust the brightness of the display so it's approximately the same as the brightness of your surrounding workstation.
Text size and contrast. Adjust the text size and contrast for comfort, especially when reading or composing long documents.

Colour temperature. Reducing the colour temperature of your display lowers the amount of blue light emitted by a colour display for better long-term viewing comfort.
